Partnership Roadshow: Trauma Based Practice workshop
Date & Time:
This session will be focussed around the effect of child trauma and the legacy it leaves behind. Sarah will share her personal story of the journey to justice and the impact of child sexual abuse on her life to illustrate that trauma has long term effects.
The session will then go on to explore:
What is it like to be a child with 'living' or 'lived' experience of trauma?
What do children who are traumatised need from the professionals working with them?
What does the most recent research tell us about Trauma based Practice?
This multi agency session will encourage dialogue and discussion between professionals to inform best practice to support children when they are at their most vulnerable.
Sarah Henry is an Independent Safeguarding & Wellbeing Trainer and Consultant based in the North of England. Sarah is also a Mental Health First Aid Instructor for Mental Health First Aid England.
As a survivor of sexual abuse from a person in a position of trust, Sarah now hopes to enable other professionals to deepen their understanding of trauma, and the impact of sexual abuse on the child highlighting the need to always listen and respond to the voice of the child.
Please sign in at the reception and the trainer will come and collect you.
