This course is delivered by Surrey County Council Education Safeguarding Team and there is a cost of £75.00 for all delegates to attend. This course is for newly appointed Designated Safeguarding Leads, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads, and appropriate members of the setting’s safeguarding teams.
Please note: This course is for new to role DSL staff only.
Participants must have either recently completed or be booked on to complete the following two courses through SSCB:

•    Foundation Module 1: Multi Agency Safeguarding Children - Family Resilience and Family Safeguarding
•    Foundation Module 2: Child Protection Conferences, Plans and Core Groups

Target Group: The course is for staff who are recently appointed or will soon be appointed to the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) in maintained, academy, independent and alternative education provisions for children and young people.

Course Aim: This course is an introduction for DSLs and DDSLs to develop an understanding of their role in taking the lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection. The course will enhance knowledge and skills to enable delegates to lead a culture of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children within their education provision.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course participants will:

•    Understand how to undertake operational DSL work within their education provision including the referral/request for support process
•    Understand how to develop and maintain good quality safeguarding records and systems
•    Have developed an understanding of their responsibility in leading a safeguarding culture within their provision

By Bus 465 runs from Dorking through Leatherhead to Kingston

By Car:


From M25 Heathrow:

Exit at junction 9, keep in the right hand lane approaching the roundabout at the end of the slip road. Take the 3rd exit A243 towards Leatherhead. This will take you under the motorway on a dual carriageway. At the next roundabout, again keep over in the right hand lane upon approach and take the 3rd exit A245. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit Kingston Road. Drive past A01 and on to the one-way system, Fairmount House is at the top of the hill on the right.


From M25 Gatwick:

Exit at junction 9, at the roundabout at the end of the slip road take the 2nd exit A245. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit Kingston Road. Drive past A01 and on to the one-way system, Fairmount House is at the top of the hill on the right.


Parking:


At Randall’s Road Car Park (KT22 0AH - for sat-nav purposes. This is a short walk away from Bull Hill.

There is no cafe onsite however local shops are a five minute walk away.
