DSL Update Training for Designated Safeguarding Leads in Surrey Education Provisions

This course is delivered by Surrey County Council Education Safeguarding Team and there is a cost of £75.00 for all delegates to attend. This course is for DSL's in education settings and those that have a strong link to compulsory/post compulsory education. If you work in an early years setting the DSL combined New to Role/Refresher workshops for nurseries and childminders is the course you should attend which will be advertised soon, please see further information below about interim arrangements for Early Years settings attending DSL training.

Interim arrangements for DSL training for Early Years Settings: please be aware that there arrangements to put on specific DSL training courses for early years settings from October onwards however at the moment early years staff can attend the September DSL training dates until further specific DSL Early Years training is arranged and advertised.

Please note: This course is for DSL trained staff only and is the 2 yearly update course. If you are new to role please book onto the DSL New to Role Training.

Prerequisites: Participants must have completed the following courses through SSCB or an accredited provider:

SSCB Foundation Module 1: Multi Agency Safeguarding Children - Family Resilience and Family Safeguarding  
SSCB Foundation Module 2: Child Protection Conferences, Plans and Core Groups
DSL new to role training from an accredited provider

Target Group: The course is for staff who are appointed to the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) in maintained, academy, independent and alternative education provisions for children and young people.

Course Aim: This course is for established DSLs and DDSLs and it provides the required DSL update. The course will also develop the DSL and DDSLs in taking the lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection. The course will enhance knowledge and skills to enable delegates to lead a culture of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children within their education provision.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course participants will:
 
•    Be provided with updates relevant to their role as DSL or DDSLs
•    Have developed an understanding of their responsibility in leading a safeguarding culture within their provision

By Train: Connections from Guildford, London Bridge & Waterloo Stations to Leatherhead station (see map). Trains also run from Epsom to Leatherhead.


By Bus:
465 runs from Dorking through Leatherhead to Kingston
415 runs from Epsom to Leatherhead.


By Car:
From M25 Heathrow – Exit at junction 9, keep in the right hand lane approaching the roundabout at the end of the slip road. Take the 3rd exit A243 towards Leatherhead. This will take you under the motorway on a dual carriageway. At the next roundabout, again keep over in the right hand lane upon approach and take the 3rd exit A245. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit Kingston Road. Drive past A01 and on to the one-way system, Fairmount House is at the top of the hill on the right.
From M25 Gatwick – Exit at junction 9, at the roundabout at the end of the slip road take the 2nd exit A245. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit Kingston Road. Drive past A01 and on to the one-way system, Fairmount House is at the top of the hill on the right.
