An introduction to Signs of Safety for Surrey CC partners
Date & Time:
Venue:Park House, Park House Randalls Road Leatherhead Surrey KT22 0AH
Signs of Safety is being adopted by Surrey County Council's Children's Services as a practice model for its work with children, young people and their families/carers. It supports the Safer Surrey approach which is a whole system, strength-based approach that works on the belief that children and their families have the strengths, resources and ability to recover from adversities.
Signs of Safety is a purposeful and collaborative way of working with children and their families/carers to keep children and young people safe and ensure their needs are met. Central to this approach is the use of specific practice tools and processes where professionals and family members can work together in partnership to find solutions to worries about children’s safety and wellbeing.
The course is aimed at practitioners and managers in voluntary, independent and statutory agencies who work predominantly with children, young people and/or their parents/carers and who could contribute to assessing, planning, and supporting families to make changes in how they live together to ensure that children are safe and their needs are understood and met. This will include practitioners who are or will be designated safeguarding leads for their organisations as well as those who support families through Early Help plans.
