Managing Allegations Against Staff and Volunteers: Education Staff Only

Pre-requisites: Participants must have completed:
- ‘Working Together to Safeguarding Children’ Induction Training or have completed an approved alternative course.
Target Group: The half day course is aimed at managers and supervisors in voluntary, independent and statutory agencies who manage staff who are working (predominantly) with children, young people and/or their parents/carers.
Course Aim: To advise those employing adults to work with children in a paid or unpaid capacity, of their duties in respect of dealing with child protection allegations against staff or volunteers.
By the end of the course participants will have:
- Gained an understanding of national and local guidance in relation to managing allegations
- Considered the employers role and responsibilities and be clear about what to do if an allegation or concern is received about a member of staff or volunteer
- Understood the role of the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)
- Explored how the three processes of social care enquiries, police criminal process, and the employers’ responsibilities work together

Please note: individuals must create their own account. There is no facility for one person to create an account in their name and book places for numerous numbers of staff. If you are booking on behalf of another member of staff you need to register in their name rather than your own.

There is no parking onsite. Please use local private parking or local pay and display car parks. Red (shoppers) multi-storey car park is a nine minute walk away at Victoria Way, Woking, GU21 6HD.
From the north (Chertsey A320)
Turn right (opposite Toys 'R' Us) into Church Street West which becomes Goldsworth Road. Go across the Morrisons roundabout, and after the zebra crossing turn left into Kingsway for the car park entrance.
From the south (Guildford A320)
Go under the railway bridge and turn immediate left into Goldsworth Road. Turn left into Kingsway for the car park entrance.
From St. John's, Horsell and Dorking
At the west end of Goldsworth Road, turn off at the roundabout into Kingsway. Towards the end of the road, turn left into the Surrey History Centre car park.
Fast trains from London Waterloo take around half an hour to get to Woking. Taxis are available outside the station.
We are 15 minutes walk from Woking railway station. Leave the station by platform one. Turn left out of the station, and walk along the High Street and across the pedestrianised area in front of Boots. Cross at the pelican crossing, continue past the market, and cross at the double pelican crossing. Walk along Goldsworth Road, turning left at the T junction, and continue past the Morrisons roundabout until you see the History Centre on your left.
